Deputy launches campaign to help hospitality manage Fair Work compliance obligations.

SYDNEY - MARCH 10 - Deputy, the leading workforce management software solution, has today announced the launch of its ‘Get Your Shift Together’ campaign.

Deputy’s campaign will counter the lack of information and education about Fair Work requirements that often cause businesses to fall foul of regulations — helping them to remain compliant, profitable and to protect the rights of their staff.

 Working closely with the hospitality industry, and leaders from The Boathouse Group, Tech Pantry and the Restaurant & Catering Association, Deputy will help businesses to better understand and more simply manage their obligations in regards to Fair Work Industry Awards.

The March 1 Fair Work compliance obligations make it compulsory for employers to keep a record of the starting and finishing times of work, and any unpaid breaks taken, of certain salaried staff. The move is seen as an attempt to clamp down on recent on-going cases of underpayment and wage theft.

Ashik Ahmed, CEO and co-founder, Deputy, said: “These new Fair Work obligations are good for both employers and staff. Rather than enforcing a culture of clocking in and clocking out, they are about ensuring that hard-working Australians have their rights protected and are earning the wage they deserve.”

“The nature of work is changing in Australia as part-time or casual work increases. Many of these jobs are in the retail, hospitality and healthcare sectors, which rely heavily on the hourly-paid workforce. It is the industry’s duty to protect these workers from unfair wage practices.”

As part of the ‘Get Your Shift Together’ campaign, Deputy will be hosting an exclusive event on March 23 with several guest speakers:

  • Glenn Boswell, Chief Legal Counsel at Deputy;
  • Thom Williamson, Group General Manager at The Boathouse Group;
  • Andy Gordon, Director at Tech Pantry;
  • Wes Lambert, CEO at Restaurant & Catering Association.

Deputy’s workforce management technology can help employers to navigate the complex employment landscape and pay staff correctly, by simplifying scheduling, timesheets, tasks and workplace communication.

Over 200 million shifts have been rostered using the Deputy platform across a variety of industries.
